Time for a change

Dear blog,

There has been a lack of activity on here lately as we are preparing for a change of direction, Billingham Photography is coming to an end and Cat Marie Photography will be coming soon...

This change was a long time coming and a difficult one to make, we have both thought long and hard about our creative direction and spoken open and honestly to each other about our roles and future goals. Out of the conversations we have found that the name Billingham Photography has not been working for us and not allowing us to both be creative individuals, we both have shared tastes but also have our own individual styles and ideas that we want to explore further.

Its strange because even though we will still be together in both life and business, it felt like a break up (silly I know) and it was something we both avoided talking about even though we felt the change was needed to move forward...it was so strange that we have taken so long to evaluate our direction I cried and questioned the change endlessly, but on the whole it felt good to make a decision that will push us both forward!

We will be no longer offering Wedding Photography, but I will be moving forward with Boudoir and Portrait photography which I have come to realise is my True Passion and I want to give that 100% from now on. Adrian will be working with me as a retoucher while he perfects his photoshop skills further and experiments with his own personal work.

We are both so excited about the change of direction, its fresh, new and positive :) I can't wait to share my new word-press blog soon (I've always wanted a word-press blog!!!) it will be interesting to see it all unravel and to take our ideas forward :) we will post here as soon as we are ready!

So its full steam ahead.....

Whats in your Boudoir wardrobe?

It is great to bring along a large selection of outfits

to a Boudoir Shoot, that way we can pick out sets which will work best for the mood of the 

shoot, location and most importantly to bring out different sides of your personality. 

On this shoot with the lovely Laura, we started out with a tiny t-shirt and frilly knicker 

combo, I love this look as it is so pretty, fun and cute and the colours really work well 

for her too.

I just love this set of 4 images below, they have real emotion, Laura was laughing lots

shaking her stuff ;) nothing like a hair toss to bring some fun to a shoot!

Time for a change :) simple black and white lingerie is sexy on any woman...

Below is my personal favourite of the day :) there was a large canvas on the wall

which I used to frame Laura, the plain grey walls emphasise her curves and her neck is 

A-Maz-ing in this shot! It almost looks like she's part of the canvas ;)

A sexy black mask adds a little mystery...

A Valentines Boudoir Marathon

I know, i know, its not even Christmas yet and we are already talking about Valentines Day? FAQ'S

So what is a Boudoir Marathon...?

A Boudoir Marathon is a weekend specifically planned for women who would love a shorter version of a Luxury One-on-One Session without the added expense of booking the hotel room, the Boudoir Marathon is a mini version of a One-on-One session without compromising the experience.

The hotel room, hair & make-up, refreshments and shoot are all included along with your choice of 10 x 8" print, this experience is all about making you feel special so all you need to do is turn up and be fabulous ;)

What should I wear?

The key is to wear what you feel sexy in, and what you think is sexy :) I have some great wardrobe ideas here via Pinterest, but don't worry as when you book your session with me we will discuss and decide what will work best for you. 

I am very pale, should I have a spray tan before the shoot?

My advice would be to avoid this, pale skin is so beautiful and photographs very well, I promise, you do not need a spray tan to look amazing ;)

How long will the session last?

The session will last for a total of 2.5 hours, this will include make-up, wardrobe and shoot, we want it to be a special day so you will have plenty of time to enjoy a drink, chocolates, music and get to know each other before the shoot.

Can I purchase an Album and additional Prints?

Yes, Your shoot will be followed by an ordering/viewing session where you will have the opportunity to purchase additional prints, albums and framed prints.

How much re-touching do you do?

Not too much, I always want to make you look amazing in camera with posing and great lighting so the re-touching is always kept looking very natural, you are beautiful as you are ;)

I do not know how to pose, do you help with that?

Of course, I will give you guidance throughout the session, do not worry that you have never done this before as posing does not come natural to most women. I will help you look natural and confident in front of the camera and we will have lots of fun in the process.

When will I see my images?

We will arrange your viewing 2 days after the shoot, we will discuss and confirm best times and date upon booking, your viewing can be at your home or location of your choice.

Staying Cool - Birmingham

We are pleased with the final results of the shoot we put together for Staying Cool,
these are a selection of our favourites from the day.

We had 2 fantastic models that were so much fun to work with and a beautiful Penthouse
apartment with floor to ceiling windows leading onto a breathtaking balcony.
The views really are amazing, even if at first you happen to find yourself clinging onto
the window frames 'ahem' ;)

A merry monday morning...

We have recently organised a shoot for 'Staying Cool at the Rotunda' and got the chance

to spend the night in the Penthouse which was amazing, the views were wonderful and 

waking up to this fantastic view on a Monday morning was the best of all! :)
